"Detroit 1-8-7," a new police procedural on ABC's fall schedule, is nixing the documentary aspect to the show, ABC confirms to Zap2it."It's not going to have a lot of changes, they're re-shooting about 4-5 scenes [from the pilot] where they break the fourth wall," the ABC rep tells us.The decision to strike the docu-style twist to the show was two-fold, ABC tells us "Part of it's creative and part of it is being sensitive to a real-life situation that happened in Detroit," where the show is based and will be filming some scenes in the future. The aforementioned situation was the accidental death of a 7-year-old girl during a police raid that was caught on camera by the A&E documentary "The First 48," which follows real-life investigators during the first 48 hours of a case. The documentary element to the show was the main thing we didn't think worked in the pilot episode, so perhaps "Detroit...

"Dexter" Season 4 ended with a literal blood bath and a vicious serial killer-forming cycle begun again."We pick up right where we left off and Dexter ... he's always catching up to himself in the places he's thrust emotionally ... he does have an appetite to atone for the fact that he's been through a second origin story and he's not innocent in this one," star and executive producer Michael C. Hall tells Zap2it."At least because of his passivity with Trinity or his indulging in this relationship, has Rita's blood on his hands and that's heavy," he continues. "I don't think we give short shrift to that underlying thing and I think that does lead Dexter ... coming into an awareness that he has a desire to atone."In addition to an internal conflict, the recently-released preview for "Dexter" shows a conflict between Dexter and his de facto daughter Astor (Christina Robinson). "I think Astor...

"Jersey Shore" finally returns for its much ballyhooed sophomore season on MTV Thursday (July 29). We all know that the cast is juicing up Miami Beach this season and Angelina Pivarnick has returned. That's about all the changes you can expect from the crew. After watching the season premiere, you'll find they're up to their usual tricks. And if you had any worries that the cast has played out their juiced up shtick, you can put those thoughts to bed right now. There's just enough dynamics going on between the new locale, Angelina's return and Ronnie Magro's split from Sammi Giancola to keep the house party going. We at the Zap2it offices have always thought there was kinship between the "Jersey Shore" kids and Bravo's "The Real Housewives of New Jersey." It's almost like looking at a Garden State time machine, right? So, we decided to pit the shows against each other in a smackdown in several categories:...

The Television Critics Association press members are seeing green and listening to Top 40 music, which means it's time for The CW sessions to begin. Before delving into each show, CW chief Dawn Ostroff takes time to make announcements and field questions. We're live blogging each moment:2:03 p.m. - CW sizzle reel plays. Plenty of vampires, Upper East Siders, fierce models, rogue assassins, cheerleaders, foster kids and a superhero in the making. 2:04 p.m. - OMG, there's no way to really explain the humor that's being exhibited by Paul McGuire, who begins with the words, "Good afternoon. The Wednesday, Aug. 4 live results show of "America's Got Talent" just got a whole lot thornier.Bret Michaels, most recently of "Celebrity Apprentice," is stopping by "America's Got Talent" to perform his signature power ballad "Every Rose Has Its Thorn." He will be joined by U.K. artist Taio Cruz, whose debut single "Break Your Heart," (feat. Ludicris) is currently making its way up the charts.Michaels also performed "Rose" on the "American Idol" finale with finalist Casey James and has been mentioned many times in guess-who-is-replacing-Simon-Cowell conversations. This performance of "Rose" comes during the last quarter-final of "Talent," when the final three acts advance to the semi-finals.Funnily enough, we predicted Bret Michaels would be on "Talent." The biannual Television Critics Association Press Tour isn't just about sitting in panels, talking to actors and showrunners. Don't get me wrong. We do plenty of that for hours on end, attached to the keyboard, wielding recorders. But you read plenty of our coverage about that, so what else are we up to? I'm here to share a little more ...Day 1The summer tour kicked off Tuesday (July 27) with set visits. While my colleague Rick Porter traveled to Wisteria Lane for a "Desperate Housewives" visit and then on to "Parenthood," I visited the Warner Bros. lot.First up was the Warner Bros. animation presentation. We got to see two new Wile E. Coyote shorts (darn you, roadrunner!) and a fun sizzle reel featuring "Batman: Brave and the Bold," "MAD," "Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated" (which is hilarious BTW) and the new "Looney Tunes."Following a Q&A session during which many cartoon voices were heard, we grabbed lunch outside,...

We don't want to get Christina Hendricks fired from "Mad Men," so we didn't press her too hard for details on the show's new season. Prior seasons, however, are another matter. So when the Emmy-nominated Hendricks came to the KTLA Morning Show Thursday (July 29), Zap2it had to ask her about a scene from last season that a lot of people read as a sign that her character, the smart, sexy Joan Holloway, and ad man Don Draper (Jon Hamm) had a past as more than just co-workers. "It's really funny. I've had that response from a lot of people who say, 'What about Joan and Don?' And I'm like, 'Where are you getting this?'" she says, laughing. The scene is from "Guy Walks into an Advertising Agency" -- "the lawnmower episode," as Hendricks puts it. Joan and Don are in a hospital waiting room after a colleague is felled by said lawnmower, and the ease...
