TV for Christmas: Parades, movies and marathons

white-christmas-bad-santa.jpgChristmas isn't quite as fruitful as Thanksgiving for TV offerings but we've found the best options if you happen to flip on the television Dec. 24 or 25.

Apparently, Thanksgiving is the time for marathons. Christmas is almost all Christmas-themed fare. What's up with that? Here's what you can look forward to over the holiday.

Dec. 24

Bravo: Starting at 2 am Christmas Eve day, Bravo is showing all the "West Wing" Christmas episodes. These five episodes are truly among the show's best. Following the "West Wing" mini-marathon, catch a marathon of last season's "Millionaire Matchmaker."

Syfy: A marathon of "Ghost Hunters." Nothing says Christmas like ghosts. Just ask Ebeneezer Scrooge.

DSC: "Deadliest Catch" marathon. Our dad has the DVR set.

AMC: "White Christmas" marathon. This is our all-time favorite Christmas movie, so please tune in if you've never seen it.

VH1 Classic: "Pop-up Video" marathon

ABC Family: A full day of Christmas movies

its-a-wonderful-life.jpgNBC: "It's a Wonderful Life" at 8 pm ET/PT. A close second on our Christmas movie list. If you don't cry at the outpouring of friendship at the end... maybe you should write Santa and ask for a heart for Christmas. Just sayin'.

TBS
: "A Christmas Story" all day long. We triple-dog-dare you to watch.

ESPN: Hawaii Bowl, Nevada vs Southern Methodist. Cheer on the fightin' Methodists and fightin'... gamblers? Hookers? Desert snakes?

VH1: "100 Greatest Songs of the 90s." We bet something by Ace of Base is #1. Also, you'd think VH1 could do "100 Greatest Songs of the Aughts" already.

Dec. 25

ABC: The Disney Christmas Day Parade

Comedy Central: "Scrubs" marathon

a-christmas-story.jpgTBS: More "A Christmas Story"

AMC: "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" marathon

TCM: All day Christmas movies

SpikeTV: "Bad Santa" all day. You can learn about Jesus and Mary and the ghost and the long eared donkey and the talking walnut.

DSC: "MythBusters" marathon

TNT: "The Librarian" marathon. We love you, Noah Wyle.

Happy holiday TV viewing, everyone!
